Typical beam torque wrench. Well made Great quality. No issues at all. Like previous purchaser the indicator was a little off. But as with all the beam wrenches I have used for the past 35 years I just bent the indicator rod a little to bring it to zero. That is the way they are used. They never need to be calibrated other than that. Learn how to use your tools.

I have utilized several manufacturer's hole saw mandrels performing electrical work routinely drilling light guage steel aluminum bronze silicon bronze stainless steel plastics and wood. Some mandrels are difficult to change from one size hole saw to the next because of inexpensive hex set screws stripping. Soooo aggrevating! Others made like the Dewalt mandrel compare with an exposed spring release but the spring being exposed many times shavings interfere it can be damaged ruining the spring and making it difficult to unscew the locknut. I have found the Dewalt Mandrel to be easy and durable. Of course drilling with hole saws can be dangerous and one should always be cautious not agressive allowing the saw to perform at it's own rate especially when penetrating a variety of materials. I have yet to have this mandrel break or cause problems. It has proven to be very reliable and I have been utilizing it for almost a year drilling hundreds of holes (2-3/8" - 4-1/2"). I am sure as with most attachments for power tools even with the best of care they will eventually have to be replaced. But at this rate my DeWalt Mandrel has paid for itself several times and has proven to be very effective and safe. "SAFETY FIRST"

I chose the ¼-inch drive because I do most of the work on my car with ¼-inch drive sockets as opposed to 3/8-inch drive sockets. I figured I could always use an adapter to step it up to 3/8-inch drive when occasionally needed. The upper limit setting is also high enough for a lot of my work. The wrench came with test information at various torque levels documenting the accuracy of the torque settings.

I used this wrench to install the oil screen on my Porsche 356. This screen must be installed by progressively torquing ten nuts in a prescribed pattern. With the torque wrench I was able to do this reliably by setting the wrench at its lowest setting (30-inch lbs) tightening all nuts then setting it to 40-inch lbs tightening all nuts etc. The clicking sound the wrench makes when it reaches the selected torque is positive and easy to detect.

I cannot comment on the long term durability or accuracy of this wrench since I just purchased it and have used it only once. I first considered a Craftsman torque wrench but changed my mind after reading negative reviews. I know a professional mechanic that likes the GearWrench ratcheting box wrenches so I purchased this GearWrench product assuming the quality would be comparable. I think it is made in the U.S. while other GearWrench products are made in China. GearWrench products are sold by Sears (and others) which means they are at least endorsed by Sears.

I am totally satisfied with this product but gave it four stars since I don't know how durable it is.
